Residents in northern Maungdaw Township say the Arakan Army has ordered the complete evacuation of Kya Gong Taung village tract, giving families just three days to leave the area.
According to local sources, the order was issued on May 29 after village administrators from Kya Gong Taung were summoned to meet members of an Arakan Army battalion based in Ngar Khu Ya village.
During the meeting, commanders reportedly instructed the administrators to inform all residents that they must vacate the village tract within three days and relocate elsewhere. Sources said residents were told they could move to any destination of their choosing but would no longer be permitted to remain in the area.
The Arakan Army allegedly warned that individuals who stay behind after the deadline could face punitive measures.
Kya Gong Taung village tract, located in northern Maungdaw Township, is home to 10 households with a total population of 54 people, according to local residents.
The evacuation order has caused growing concern among Rohingya families living in the village, many of whom say they have nowhere to go and lack the resources needed to relocate.
Residents told The Daily East that the sudden directive has created uncertainty and fear, with families struggling to determine where they can seek shelter once the deadline expires.
Several residents said they are worried about their safety and future livelihoods, particularly as displacement would separate them from their homes, farmland and limited sources of income.
The reasons behind the evacuation order remain unclear, and the Arakan Army has not publicly explained why residents have been instructed to leave the village tract.
